the flower gathering

Who is the flower gathering for?

This is for anyone who loves the seasons and nature, who loves growing and arranging flowers in a wild, undone way, or who is a total novice who would love to learn. It may be a beautiful hobby, or a form of stress relief or it may be totally new to you - something that you have always wanted to try. It may perhaps be the first stepping stone into a new career, something you want to practice before you commit to floral training. You may want to hone your craft or start something new but the professional training pathway is not right for you. It’s a fabulous way to connect with like minded souls, to connect with the seasons, to play and learn in a relaxed, beautiful environment.

What does it include?

The aim is to provide tuition and guidance for those of you who love flowers and growing but are not looking to develop a business. Rather you would love some time immersed in a garden and flowers and would like to learn more about growing in tune with the seasons and an ‘undone’ style of floristry. We will meet every 2 months, starting in February and ending in December, so 6 gatherings in total. Each time we meet we will have a session on what we should be doing at that point in the growing cycle, and then make a seasonal arrangement together using materials gathered from the cutting garden. Meeting regularly in a small group means that I can focus on you and your personal development. Progress and projects can be shared with each other, seeds and plants can be swapped and friendships firmly formed.

The Practical Stuff

I work with seasonal, British grown flowers and all arrangements are foam free. The gatherings are hosted in my floral haven in the walled kitchen garden at Doddington Hall and the timings are 10am - 4.30pm. All flowers and vessels are provided and you will of course take your creations away with you. Lunch and refreshments are provided and the maximum number of guests for these sessions is 4. The investment is £1,170, and payment can be made either in one payment or across two or three instalments. The dates for 2024 are: 21st February, 24th April, 19th June, 21st August, 16th October, 11th December.
